My lovely duck

Post by EJ on Sat May 10, 2008 12:23 pm

I have a very lovely pet duck which I got from my school as a baby three months ago, but I don't know if it is male or female. Besides me some other children got ducks, but they all died Mad , I know this because I asked them. He/She always follows us wherever we go. Although he/she is only about three months old he/she is already starting to fly.

We have a cat as well and instead of the duck being scared of the cat, the cat is scared of the duck Very Happy, it chases our cat and pecks it. Any way our duck is alive, healthy, and happy Very Happy.

Peace and happiness to all Cool

Very Happy hello E.J i am so happy about your duck,i bet it is so cute. that reminds me of when my son raised a butterfly in school
'from a cocoon, his was the only one out of 23 kids whose butterfly emerged and lived for him to bring it home ,it was black and yellow he named him Ivan and on a warm june day ,we set him free in our yard .
jacob talked to ivan every day,he nurtured him and cared for him........i belive that is the differance in why your duck lived
and so did ivan the butterfly cat albino alien elephant thankyou for your story

Hi EJ,

When I was around 14 I lived in a small town in South India. I used to keep chickens, but also a couple of ducks and Guinea-fowl. The ducks and Guinea-fowl were raised from eggs incubated by chicken hens (both the duck and Guinea-fowl need about 1-week longer to incubate so this requires a little planning but it is not difficult). It was funny to see the baby ducks following their "mother" like the other "normal" chicks. The mother only rejected them when they were almost full-grown.

Most of the chickens were the colorful variety. I also tried raising the white chickens but they got sick very easily and most of them died very early on. I remember praying and crying for God to heal my baby white chickens, but no miracle happened. But I still have fond memories of keeping these birds.

Peace,
Mark
