Now what I am about to propose might sound a little strange at first, especially if one is not familiar with what a "BERAGON" is. The beragon is simply an ancient ' T ' shaped aid to formal meditation, which has been used in India (and probaly many ancient 'Spiritual' communities) since time immemorial. Below is a picture of this instrument (from the "Self Realization Fellowship" web-site at ~ https://www.srfbooks.com/Item.asp?id=1460 ):

The beragon is an aid to Mystic 'LIGHT' & 'SOUND' meditation, and looks like a capital letter T.

Also, the mandala is an ancient circular symbol of total Mystic 'Awareness' ~ the (Spiritual) 'ALL' ~ the Experience of True Enlightenment ~ the vision of True LIGHT ~ TRUTH & LIFE!
See image below of a contemporary mandala (and also article at ~ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandala ).

Now, when you combine these two objects, this is what you get ~ the Egyptian ANKH symbol, meaning LIFE !

Could it possibly be that the two aforementioned symbols were combined to make the Ankh, or is it merely coincidence?

Hey, ABS. I find your post to be on the money. I believe the the beragon & mandala do serve as a representations of the cross of Christ (the Ankh). The Ankh is a very ancient symbol. It is also called the key of life. Its use in Kmt predates 10,000BCE. It eventally made its way to India prior to 1000BCE. It represents the adrogynous soul, crucified on the plane of matter (incarnation - human life). Some may find it hard to believe, but this is truly the same cross Christ was crucified on. Naturally, this is a huge "key" to unlocking who and or what Christ is, despite the attempts of orthodoxy to keep the truth concealed. Christ's crucifixion isn't that of a man. It is that of the world soul, which incarnates in mankind. It is the descent of the soul into flesh.

If you click on the link below. You'll see the Ankh located on the genitalia of Ardanari Iswara (represents: the adrogynous soul):

http://karenswhimsy.com/hindu-symbols.shtm

Ankh Description:

The loop at the top is called the shen ring. It represents eternity, the feminine principal, the womb, magnetic charge.

The T, the cross represents that which is temporal, masculine principal, the phallis and electrical charge.

The portion that ties the two together is the Ankh knot.

Meditation:

The Ankh is pronounced as "aung" and is used as a Hekau (mantra) while meditating. Just as Ankh (aung) is used as a Hekau, so is the kemetic term Amun (pronounced: Om). This is the Amen of Christians and the sanksrit mantra of Om (Am).

I hope this has helped.

Yes, this is quite amazing. It was purely guesswork on my part to connect the two. However, I do use a beragon while meditating, and I knew what the mandala represents.

I wasn't sure if the circular shape was actually a mandala, or, as it is sometimes rather egg shaped, perhaps the representation of the human head (i.e. the temple of the body).

I agree completely. Esoterically, one could find the ankh is the mysteries of life, the mystery of what creates life.
The Lingham-Yoni, like the cross.
The phalluce in the uterus.
The act of sexual alchemy itself.

Samael Aun Weor explained more regarding this in his works if anyone's interested.
