Namaste!

Post by Maitreya on Tue Jul 08, 2008 1:55 pm

Namaste!
I'm actually Hindu, but I've read a lot of Gnostic scriptures and actually considered being a Manichean for a while.
I hope my stay here to be enlightening and I can't wait to meet everyone. Very Happy

Hi and welcome Maitreya, it's great to have you here.

I think you will find that genuine gnosis (adhyatma or gupta-vidya) encompasses and unites the Essence of ALL religions - and can take one to the very EXPERIENCE and SOURCE of ALL KNOWLEDGE - to ENLIGHTENMENT itself.

Please make yourself comfortable and enjoy your journey.

Maitraya, truly looking forward to enlightening discusion of oneness in the ineffable Father of eternity, though Christ as we all are here. May His gloriousness shine within the Gnostics of Him. Your knowledge of them should make interesting posts and awakinings of the same indeed. Rest truly in the Christ we seek, that is in this world but not of it friend.

Welcome!

I too have always been into Manicheaism (what first got me goin as a vegan). I about take Mani's word over most, if there is a contridiction.

You will find many here with many alliances, and that isn't a bad thing!

Blessings!

Namaste Sara and DarkChlyde! Smile DarkChlyde, I'm glad that you're a fan of Mani as well Smile Sadly, I'm just a vegetarian, not a vegan. I tried it for awhile, but eventually gave up because I'm weak. Sad

Oh, it has nothing to do with weakness. At first, I was a vegetarian, but my veganism started when I was standing in line once to get some thing for the kids at Long John Silver's, and while I still ate fish and shrimp I had given up chicken, pork, and beef. But I suddenly SAW that it was ALL a corpse, even the poor little shrimpies that were lined up in the picture like they were still alive, just missing thier legs, heads, and burnt and suddenly I couldn't eat any meat since, as I see it as a dead thing, and that kills ANY appetite for it. WHile I was a vegetarian, I was doin it without seeing that, trying to quit like a junkie, always wanting but denying myself. Then it WAS about self control, now it has become about an expanded awareness.

Besides, meat (any kind) is very much like a drug (I know, I got myself off the two major street drugs I used to be on, so I know all about dealing with THAT- and by myself, too!) and it takes 3 months for you to loose your taste for it. Now the smell of frying food doesn't make me hungry, but the smell of grilled onions does!! Laughing

You are NOT weak! Just look at the meat as how it was once a living thing. THis may sound kinda weird or sick, but for me to eat ANY meat now would be like trying to eat my own children, it is all life and all sacred. THe thing about plants is they are MADE to be eaten. Fruit, for instance, was developed by mamma nature thru plants to be appetizing to mammalian life, so that we will eat it, seeds and all, and pass the seeds out in our waste which spreads the plants range (and encourages natural diversity) as well as fertilizes the little seeds to begin with, which is why seeds are undigestable but the fruit isn't, and tasty! Archonic influences aside, I dont eat the dead anymore, not grilled, deep fried, or BBQed, I save the BBQ sauce for beans instead! Razz

Oh, btw, I DO eat dairy (milk, cheese and the like) and I use honey (HAVE to, I'm an herbalist and honey is the greatest natural medicine there is) but I don't eat any flesh, or eggs. So I am not technically a strict vegan, (which is supposed to mean no dairy or honey either) but since mine is for spiritual reasons, that is why I can do dairy and honey.
