Hi from EJ

Post by EJ on Sun Dec 16, 2007 11:52 am

Hi, my name is Elmore.

I am ten years old, and I go to a Catholic elementary school, because there is not much choice where I live. My dad made me a Moderator on this forum ~ so everyone should watch their “P’s” and “Q’s”. Rolling Eyes
I will tell you what I think about God. It says in one of the commandments “You shall not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain” but who is God? Religion today as we know it is a money making business. Instead of praising the Lord we ask for material things, like money, riches, gold and things like that. And also Christmas is a money making business and everyone is always asking for gifts on Christmas, people like that are always expecting things from other people, they don’t give but sometimes they get. We are forgetting what Christmas is about, it’s about love and sharing. I want to tell the people who read this to understand what God is, God doesn’t want to see you hurt yourself if you do something bad or say something bad, he loves everyone even if you do something bad he forgives you. If you believe God talks in a language he doesn’t, and if you believe that God’s name is God it isn’t. Knowing is better than believing, because believing means you’re not sure.

Thank you to the people who read this.
Be Loving and kind to each other.

Hello Elmore

Are you really only 10 years old? You write better English than most 20 year olds.

And you have quite much wisdom to be so young. And I wish you luck.

Hi BelzeBob

Yes I am 10 years old. Thank you very much for your kind compliment about my English.

I don’t follow any religion, but I still love God. I have seen God because my father taught me how to meditate. Some religions believe that God looks like a human, but he doesn’t, God looks like a very bright light. I wish you peace and happiness.

Bye for now. EJ Very Happy

P.S Happy Christmas. santa

Hi EJ

He he. That's very impressive. Have thankfulness not only to God, but also to your dear father/mother who obviously raised you very well. To have a good start in life is very important.

God is in everything. When you can see. Especially in a human face. Try to be as inwardly silent as possible and simply look. Sometimes you can see a great beauty. And this beauty is also God.
God is the source of all life. And at the same time God is in all life.

You who are 10 years old today will be the new generation tomorrow. It will be your responsibility to take care of this world. So even though you're still a child and should play and have a lot of fun, you are very important and must develop a serious mind and a grown-up outlook on life as early as possible.

Listen impartially (=not "liking" or "disliking", "agreeing" or "disagreeing") to the things that adults talk about. Look at books, newspapers, magazines. See what genuinely interests you. Investigate it. Not for the sake of your parents or school-teachers, but for your own sake. So your knowledge and understanding of life and the world can grow.

This is my advice to you.

Oh, yes! Happy Christmas!

Greetings,
BB

Good to meet you here. I must admit though that P's and Q's are seldom my problem! It is some of the other letters that I find to be challenging...so watch me for all of them! Embarassed

Nice to find someone that has been encouraged to know God. There is a whole world out there waiting for people like you. I would say listen to what Bbob has to say. bounce

Catholic School must me fun when your as open minded as you are....but then maybe they are changing. Surprised

Peace. I love you
Stacey

Hi EJ

Just some questions for you:

1. What books do you read?
2. Are you interested in dreams?(Do you remember your dreams in the morning when you wake up?)

Yes, I know I must. My dad teaches me everyday, he has helped me a lot, and I appreciate that.

Ok, I will do that, I’ll try, and I’ll read about it. study
This is my advice to you.

Just some questions for you:
1. What books do you read?

I’ve read “Finders Keepers” by Emily Rodda, “Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH” by Robert C. O’Brien, “The Wind in the Willows” by Kenneth Grahame, and some of the Bible. My Dad has also bought me some other books which I have not read yet.
2. Are you interested in dreams? (Do you remember your dreams in the morning when you wake up?)

Sometimes I forget what I dream about, Sleep and sometimes I’m not interested in some of my dreams, but I remembered a dream, I dreamed I was in heaven, that was my best dream I had. sunny

My dad told me that you live in Vietnam. What do you do there?

All for now, Bye, EJ Cool

EJ

Hi! I have some book recommendations for you,
(What I used to read when I was 10):

Authors: Books:

C.S Lewis: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

Jack London: White Fang

James Fennimore Cooper: The Last of the Mohicans

J.R.R. Tolkien: The Hobbit

Arthur Conan Doyle: All books about Sherlock Holmes

Mark Twain: Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn

And the "1001 Nights" Arabian fairy tales. The shorter stories for children that are easier to read, not the super-long stories for adults.

If you live near a library, I'm sure they have some of these books there. If you like 1 book, you can see if they have more books by the same author. Reading is very important, and also very exciting I think.

I teach English in Viet Nam.

Good luck with everything!

Thank you for the suggestion, but I have some of the books that you suggested plus 5 more books that I read in my school's library.

My school library is the only library in this area and they dont have any good books. Evil or Very Mad

I teach English in Viet Nam.

Good luck with everything!

I hope you'll read. It doesn't help that you have good books if you don't read them, y'know.

Hi there, EJ!

Sorry I am late getting to this, I have just now got back online from a laptop crash.

So good to have you here, and BB is right, you are very eloquent and wise for your age, perhaps it runs in the family Laughing.

I have a good book for you to read as well, tis one of my faves, and I have read it to my girls, the Velveteen Rabbit. The author was a very deep and spiritual person, and I still get choked up reading it aloud sometimes. The other suggestions were awesome, as well.

So great to have you in the group! We are honored to have you here, and as a mod, even!

Hi DC

Hi Tom

Thank you for your kindness. My father has a guitar too, it's an electric guitar - what kind of guitar do you have? Is it electric or acoustic? I am looking for someone of my age who can play guitar.

Good bye for now. Cool
