Good Morning!

Post by Helios on Tue Mar 18, 2008 8:23 pm

Why hello there,

I am a twenty-six year old Canadian, University drop-out, who has developed an interest in Gnosticism and the paths that lead to Awakening. I'm a practicing Buddhist with a keen interest in the philosophy, observations and practices of the Gnostics. I found this site through another forum that I frequent, it came highly recommended.

I tend to struggle quite a bit with depression and anxiety, even in the face of therapy, meditation and those little awakening experiences I'm sure the rest of you are familiar with. Although sometimes I pine for complete self-annihilation, I press on as though someone or something else is beneath it all, slogging ever-forward. On my good days I like to think that something is the inner light, the luminous that is aware and free.

I have a fondness for the Sun and all that it represents as a spiritual symbol. I also really, really like curry dishes.

Hi Helios, Greetings and welcome to our small, but loving family of Light ~ I hope you will find everything here even greater than what you imagined - for imagination can never match up to Reality and Truth. sunny

If you would like me to add a 'Buddhist' Topic to the forum just let me know.

The ways of this world can be depressing to all of us at times, that is one of the reasons we need to stick together on the Path to Enlightenment, to help and share experiences when we inevitably slip or fall. I hope you will stick with us ~ we all need each other.

BTW ~ I share your taste for Indian foods - it is a very British trait (along with tea).

Thank you muchly for your welcome, your kind words of support and encouragement. For the first time in a while I'm excited to be participating in a new forum.

My grandfather is British, so that could be where I get it from. I'm grateful to have inherited that appetite. Very Happy

sunny i am very glad your here! Very Happy yes life here in 3-D is hard and at times very, very sad. I have had my share of it and as well have struggled thru thoughts of death and ending it all. there was always that gentle nudge to preserve that kept me going one day, sometimes one breath at a time. Then my children came along , thoughts of giving up the race left my mind .being awake does not always ,if ever make ones life any easier. In fact i found it at times even more painfull,as i watch people in the world around me heading full bore into a dark bleak,"CHRISTLESS" eternity.when i look at this earth and see what SHE as a planet has endured i also get down! BUT... ! Thoughts turn to that one day when all things will be as they were intended, and the reality that GOD truley loves you even if every thing else really sucks. That is why i love it here . these people here have similar stories there is a feeling of unity and brotherhood that is irreplaceable and it is so awesome to be a part of something bigger then ones own self

Welcome Helios, I can relate to the feeling of ending it all, and it still occurs at times. A bit ago a friend helped me out and told me that I was not alone in this struggle, that there is others alike and we are all needed in this world, as a spiritual war is current. For me if I meditate or go to sleep I feel better afterwards.

We can get caught up in these feelings, but if we weather the storm the Sun shall surely shine another day. I think we may need to find a greater purpose than being a good consumer to discourage the feeling of hopelessness, and seeking out what is really going on here helps, for the true treasures seem to lie within, and that can restart our enthusiasm in life.
Also if we were to annihilate this manifestation, we may have to come back, and may be in a harder circumstantial life. The suffering we have may yield fruits later, and may be alike to pain telling us something is wrong and we need make some changes.

I hope you find what your looking for, and this forum I have found is a good place to see the fellow humans in the same or simular boat, in a world that can seem as if we are nearly alone.

Peace

Let's consider just how fortunate (truly Graced) we really are to see and experience this pain! ~ for if we were merely content with our lot here, would we seek for something better?

We should be thanking God for EVERYTHING He sends us.
