Re: Animal rights fanatics up in arms over Jewish sacrifices
That's kinda interesting, I never knew Isareli law forbade sacrifices. That's kinda funny, in fact.
The follower of knowledge learns as much as he can every day;The follower of the Way forgets as much as he can every day.By attrition he reaches a state of inaction
Wherein he does nothing, but nothing remains undone.
To conquer the world, accomplish nothing;
If you must accomplish something,
The world remains beyond conquest.

To conquer the world, accomplish nothing;
If you must accomplish something,
The world remains beyond conquest.

If you weren't so pharisaic in mindset, you would no that literal animal sacrifices are an abomination, to kill your lesser brothers as a means for your carnality in mind and understanding. This is why the scriptures can be the letter that killeth, by turning these things outwards in ritual and traditions of mechanical earth-bound men of ignorance, they are manifesting the what the text depict within themselves, thus failing to bring about the necessary transformation, transmutation of the lower nature within themselves. As Paul said, put to death whatever belongs to your earthly nature.... the sacrifices which God asked for was to sacrifice that animal within yourself, and burn it in the flames of rectification so that it, in condition, can become the season of a transformed lower consciousness.
If you understood passover, you would understand what the sacrifice truly is and why in the allegorical scriptures, after passover, when Yeshua died, it was called one of the Sabbaths. This is all esoteric. But I digress.

Personally I feel animal sacrifice is cruel and unnecessary. These aren’t creatures without emotions, or sensations. They are not objects. They are sentient beings who have an experience on this plane. As civilized beings, we naturally have the ability to empathize, in a healthy state. It is unfortunate, that ignorance, and anger in ones heart, can lead to so much cruelty. I don’t believe killing the innocent will take away sins, which exist in your own heart. The shedding of innocent blood intentionally for such a cause, is in fact defiling in my eyes. It’s not only disrespectful to the sacrificed, but also to the creator of all things. Many know not what they do, and for those that do, I say, have a heart, and “let them live”.
Uhm....a comment...if I may??
I am sure I will eventually get into the "theme" of things in this forum. However, for now I would like to comment on this thread.
The sacrificial rituals within most religiouns have been around throughout the ages. Even today, within many religious movements, there exists the remnants of sacrifice. In most forms of Christianity there remains the horrible and deviant practice of "eating" the flesh of your God, and "drinking" his blood. Without having to delve into the perverted psychology behind the clear cannibalistic nature of this practice, I feel that the sacrifice of animals in the name or in the honor of some God or some deity is just as silly. Were it not for the humane laws within most countries that prohibits such practices, I'm afraid we would have still been busily burning the witches...*s*
The reason why such practices are not as commonly found these days, is not because people have "grown" within their religions. They certainly have grown as humans, though, and most of that growth was forced upon them by a different society as opposed to the biblical times. This is an interesting point, since we are taught that God is eternal, and is always the same. Well, if God has authorised, and in fact, instructed the prophets of old to sacrifice animals to him, then where do we find the revelation that this authority has been revoked?
It does not exists, other than in the minds of those who interpret scriptures with a different set of spectacles. We see what we need and want to see, and we justify it through perverted logic and assumptions about what we believe God would want. Since God is entirely absent, he has no way of re-inforcing his teachings. Instead we rely on the ancient scribblings of sheep herders who believed the earth to be flat, and that bats are birds.
I could write a lot more about rituals, and why they are important too so many people, but time does not allow. Perhaps later...*s*
Peace to all.

Good post, Gentle.
Course, 'law' was created to replace 'conscience' anyhow.... But technically the eternal ONE is NOT the one who authorised animal sacrifice. If you speak of the 'Law' (the Torah) it ALSO says I can sell my daughters into slavery, and not to wear clothing made of two kinds of thread, and that eating shellfish to be a greater abomination than homosexuality...
Such nonsense has NOTHING to do with the eternal, true, and LIVING ONE we are 'supposed' to be seeking...
