there was a Hebrew Version of Matthew, the Hebrew Gospel.

Hebrew gospel or not, there is no evidence of this, like fragments of the texts.

In any case, many believe that Mark was the earliest of the synpotic gospels. Matthew and Luke seemed to derive their sources from Mark.

Mark is simpler in style, where as Matthew and Luke seemed to improve on detail or even embellish them. Whatever is the case, the 4 gospels were written after the Pauline Epistles.

Thomas only contain sayings, and it is quite possible that it is even older than the gospel of Mark, because it is less fine.

Then there is the theory of the Q-gospel, in which all 3 gospels may have derive from earlier source, which they had designated as Q.

I think it is very likely that the early Hebrew (Aramaic speaking) disciples of Yehoshua (e.g. the Ebionites) would have eventually produced a written Hebrew (Aramaic) Gospel (or source of "sayings") which would have been far nearer the truth than any of our current known Greek texts.

btw ~ have you seen this thread: http://gnosis.forumotion.com/apologetics-f10/the-original-hebrew-matthew-t139.htm
