I know very little about this man or his path, except that he promoted and used some kind of sexual techniques or practices for his way to enlightenment(?).

There were also pseudo-gnostics in the early years of Christianity who apparently promoted sexual practices in their religion.

Heresy Hunters

Post by sojourner_8 on Sat May 31, 2008 8:56 pm

The heresy hunters of the second and third centuries were responsible for the little distorted information we now have on early Gnosticism.

Ophitics and Valentinians were portrayed as phallic ritualists. From the evolving orthodoxy of the time, individual aspirations for seeking the perfection within were considered destructive(as they still are). Orthodox teachings condemned the Gnostics in the most cruel way, often assigning ribald degenerative practices, murder and devouring of children, and even association with the serpent as a divine intervention method.

Early Gnostics did indeed revere the serpent as the blessed reptile that links God to the physical...precedent for this is in the form of Moses' use of the divine serpent.

In any case, orthodoxy could not survive in a world where the individuals sought the divine by looking within...they had to be "told" how to proceed. Gnosticism had to eradicated for orthodoxy to survive..Jesus had to relegated to a place of divinity within the living God.

Sex can be an enlightening spiritual experience if it comes from love. The transferance of the divine spark within each partner into the newly formed being created by them, should be seen as a mimic of the creation and not a base concept of pleasure.

I know nothing of this writer, and by this thread, already have concluded that if he choses to find gnosis in the spiritual connection of male and female, yet pursues it in random and superficial rite, he is errant.
