The Words of the Living Christ
It is interesting that there were supposedly 12 apostles and only four gospels(none of which were really written by the attributed author) Further, why is that we have so little of the words of Jesus? In Luke Chapter 8, Jesus goes throughout Galilee preaching. Do we have any written documents of what he said?
He spent three years with his disciples, can we believe it was in silence? He was literate and certainly could read scripture, why then is nothing written by Jesus himself?
He stood on the mount and held the crowd in awe for a whole day! Can we believe the few lines in the bible attributed to this discourse are total?
Yes, I have a very great distrust of anything that refuses to allow me to think. Revelation and grasping the truth of God is a personal experience, yet denying us the whole of the Saviour's message is evil. I think Paul usurped his Apostolic tradition. Subsequently, the formation of the "true" church became a grab for wordly power. In it's formation, repression of free thinking was critical. Did they really destroy the extant written words of the Christ?
We strive for truth, those who oppose that strive only for the lie.
I would truly rejoice if a discovery were made of ancient documents with titles like: The Gospel According to Jesus, Our Saviour Speaks, etc.,...

Sojourner I aggree that from simple conical observation with the bibles texts, a very clouded picture can only be gahered without going deeper into theology and Historical research of the Bibles Texts and texts out side that.
When one does they will find the Mark was Peters scribe, Luke was one of Pauls so called disciples and was also hired by the Sanhedrian councel to ellimanate Cristians with paul at that time except Peter I mentioned, none where of the 12 either. in the Bible text the only Scriptures associated with a 55-80% chance of being writen by any Apostles are Matthew and James. John is the 100% ecception theres nothing that indicates at all anywhere that The gosple of John or Revalations were NOT by him. sort of a reverse proof of authorship. John 1,2,3 were not along with Peter 1 and 2 also, there text falls in line with Paul. It has also been said that the Gosple of John might have benn writen by Mary Magdeline for she realy started one of the first church gatherings in a large way, but a mans veiw at that time was the only one accepted, thus changed to John By Her to keep the word in the hearts of people.
with Christ teachings such as (Pistis Sophia) He tells of John will be the keeper of the Mysteries alone with Mary Magdeline knowing the most of them through the Savior being at it has been said He love her most.
there are many Scriptures that has Christ talking directly be inscibed by Thomas or Mathias(being the groups scribe)
The Pearl...a Christian Gnostic website This site You will find the sayings of Jesus Scripture, that is close but expanded from the Gosple of Thomas also. Pistis Sophia is a big one where Christ instructs them all. Apocrapha of John is another one. There are many with the Nag Hammadi Collection that has Christ teaching all areas need for us to learn
Nag Hammadi Library . I hope you find these truly helpfull.
Traditional Earthly stories of Jesus himself most likely have gotten silenced as they still try today from Mans vain ignorance of the truth. Jesus Earthly Life is actually no more important than each of ours for the Christ within us all that he has direct us to be like. Do all the things I have done, or Love your Brother as I have loved You, being the 13th commandment
Joh:13:34: A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
Also in explaination of No stories Jesus had talked about himself is in this
Joh:12:49: For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
This is one reason we see nothing of the Mortal Jesus.
Their is a Scripture also in title "Dialoge of the Savior" This has many words missing by is truely Awsome to read what is understandable indeed.
I bring this to you from your asking My friend, I pray My words are helpfull

Re: The Words of the Living Christ
In my opinion, all ancient scriptures are corrupted to some extent. None are pure and original, therefore none can be 100% relied on for Truth. Also, have you ever wondered why none of the texts were ever written by the great Masters themselves (e.g. Buddha, Yehoshua, etc. ~ even the Pentateuch was not written by Moses!). Perhaps because written words are not of real SPIRITUAL use (only as a signpost to point to the need for a 'LIVING' Master).
There is no way that written texts (or oral traditions) can actually REVEAL the TRUTH - the TRUTH can only be revealed by initiation from a LIVING CONTEMPORARY MASTER ("in my opinion / to my knowledge"!). This is what I believe that ALL Spiritual Scriptures point to - e.g. "No one comes to Elohim, except through the MESSIAH" (John 14:6).

Thank you
I am familiar with some of the points you mentioned. I think perhaps you misconstrued my intent. I was not trying to scrutinize the biblical gospels as to authorship, but more for the lack of vision. I have read the Nag Hammadi Library...still use it regularly. I really was trying to express my annoyance, if you will, of the way in which orthodoxy manipulates with the "carrot on the stiring".
As for Paul, his usurping of Apostolic tradition, is the whole reason the Roman Catholic church legitimizes itself and its papacy!
My intent was that, if the ALiving Christ offered such wonder, such magnitude of interest in the divine, enough so that people followed him everywhere, then a small New Testament, doesn't really cut it. I have visited the Pearl website, but again I thank you for offering it...it shows the depth of your search for the truth.
Peace and Light and Wisdom to you, Brother,
Tim

Agreed, Bob, I think we share a commonality on that aspect, yet I would love to read the Gospel according to Jesus!
An aside here....I agonize over the thought that when the bible was literally put together, that they tossed out so much and labelled it heretical. I mean, of the early gnostics, we know hardly anything except what we can glean from the heresy hunters. Like all history, it is written by the victors. A hierarchy which the early church attempted to establish and which still legitimizes itself today through the concept of Divine Calling, a segreagated confomist society where seeking God through individual effort was condemned. And women...well, we don't even have to go there.
For me, the All is everything...therefore masculine/feminine is a given. Harmony! I love that word.

sojourner_8,
Perhaps while the scriptures are corrupted and missing many concepts, imo, they are also allegorical and not meant to be
Chronological
