These additional insertions are just that - later scribal notes added in translation (for clarity). The original texts mention the term only a maximum of three times, i.e. Acts 11:26; 26:28; & 1 Peter 4:16.

Re: 144,000
and yes Bob you are probley right on who coined that term, but something is telling me it may have also been a term given by the pharisees after the death of Christ
Col. 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory

I think the term 'CHRIST', being itself Greek, would not have occurred to the Hebrews; but even if it did, would not have been used of Yehoshua by his religious opponents (as it does mean the same as 'Messianists').
However, Paul was indeed preaching to the (Greek speaking) gentiles, who would have understood the term (Christian).

Bob I understand that. My point was that Jesus had never heard the term "Christian" before his death on the cross. It is not mentioned in the Old Testament at all that I know of. But I see what you are saying and I agree.
Re: 144,000
Yea,... Bob that makes sense ,i was not even thinking about the word origin, which is unusual for me

I have a Pehitte resotrative scriptures I like to use, twas reproduced (as close as can be) from the original Greek back to Aramaic.
However, Much was lost when the scriptures went from Greek to Latin to English, so few know of the descrepancies.....
But what it means now.... (shudder) Reminds me of where Yehsua said 'much would be done in My name, but I will say I never you..."

Bob, Paul himself was Greek? Was he not? Or am I mistaking him for some one else....

No, Saul/St.Paul was a Jew born and brought up in Tarsus (in modern day Turkey - then a Greek speaking Roman province). He also inherited Roman citizenship from birth (probably due to his parents doing some service for the Empire - or perhaps from bribing a Roman official?). We are told he was originally training to join the Sanhedrin, so he would have spoken Hebrew/Aramaic as well as his native/childhood Greek.

None of the 'Apostles' (neither the original 12, nor Paul - who I do not personally include as an Apostle) were Greek.
Perhaps you are thinking of Luke - the author of that Gospel. Luke was a Gentile physician living in Troas, a city on the coast of the Aegean Sea, where, perhaps, Paul first met him and converted him to Christianity.

Hey, MS. Your post above is a head scratcher. What issue do you have with my posts regarding Revelation? And can you elaborate on why it is that you don't spend time on the book?
